- Write a short, interesting fact in their own words.
- Present information clearly on a card.

Lesson plan
- Starter10 minRead the Mini Veg Facts on a few cards aloud. What makes a good fact? (Surprising, short, true.)
- Research20 minPupils choose a fruit or vegetable that isn’t in the pack and find two or three facts about it, noting where they found each one.
- Create20 minPupils draw their fruit or veg, pick colour stars for each measure, and write their Mini Veg Fact on the template.
- Share10 minGallery walk: pupils read each other’s cards and vote for the best fact.
Pupils won’t have exact nutrition numbers, so the template uses the colour stars only (green, amber or red). For a challenge, older pupils can look up real values on a food label or a trusted website.
Support and challenge
- SupportGive a short fact sheet about two or three choices to pick from.
- ChallengeFind real values per 100g for at least two measures and explain where the numbers came from.

What’s on the card?
Pupils find out what energy, fibre, protein, carbohydrates and vitamin C are, and why our bodies need each one.
Eat the rainbow
Pupils sort the cards by colour and plan a rainbow of fruit and veg to try over a week.
Number battles
Playing Veggie Trumps is comparing numbers. Pupils play in pairs and record each battle using <, > and =.
